Make sure that you have speakers of headphones plugged in to the CD ROM drives. Audio sound is different from computer data and goes through a different connector than the SCSI cable. You can run a audio cable from the external CD ROM drives and play through your sound card with most sound cards, it's best to check with the sound card manufacturer as to which ones can do this.
Was your original CD ROM drive also a SCSI drive? If so, check the CONFIG.SYS to make sure that the driver did not get remarked out when PD Pack was loaded.
The CD Mounter Plus software is perfectly capable of handling these extended format CD's but not all CD ROM's are always authored correctly. If you are having a problem with an extended format CD then you might want to call the CD ROM's manufacturer to see if there have been any known problems with the disc.
Make sure the ASPI Manager that came with your SCSI card is installed in your CONFIG.SYS. After the ASPI manager there should be a line for CDASPI.SYS.
DEVICE=C:\CDMPLUS\CDASPI.SYS /D:CDMP001
The ASPI Manager is a driver that comes with your SCSI card. If you are using Windows 95 and you have no ASPI manager that can be installed through the CONFIG.SYS then it may be better to uninstall our software and use Windows 95 "Install New Hardware" feature. This works in a lot of cases. You may have to contact the manufacturer of the SCSI card and ask for a copy of the ASPI Manager for your card.
6. I just bought a new cartridge/drive and I want to know how long it will take to format?
It takes between 5 to 10 minutes per 100 megabytes (mostly depends on the speed of the drive) a 650MB cartridge will take between a half to to one hour (or so) to format it. Of course you really seldom need to format a disk. Just "Installing" a partition on it is usually enough to make it ready for use. Most disks come pre-low level formatted from the factory and don't need to be re-low level formatted the second you take it out of the box.
7. What is the /R:1 switch for?
This means to Reserve one drive letter at startup. If you regularly partition cartridges with more than one partition than it can be useful to have the driver always reserve two (or more) drive letters for the drive at startup.
8. PD Pack for Windows uses Logical Unit Numbers (LUN's) to get two drive letters.
This means that you have to make sure that your SCSI host adaptor card has LUN support and that it is enabled. (Check the documentation that came with the SCSI card)
