The True Drag and Drop utility for CD-RW Drives including the new “Mt. Rainier” CD-RW drives Windows Version (Now supports XP! and CD-R Media)
"Copying and saving files was a breeze. And after I installed SAI's read utility on another PC, both a CD-RW and a DVD-ROM drive that had no Mt. Rainier support or other UDF (Universal Disc Format) software read my new disc."
Alexandra Krasne July 2002 issue of PC World magazine

CD-RW media was invented to replace the floppy as file sizes grew larger. However existing CD software is mainly for mastering audio CDs and does not reproduce the simple drag and drop convenience and usability of a floppy. However, WriteCD-RW! does and also enables disk interchange between PCs and Macs.
For example, Jane quickly saves her sales quote and presentation to an important client to a CD-RW using her Win 98 desktop PC. While on an airplane she revises it on her Win 2000 laptop and on arrival gives the disk to her client with a WinXP PC.
Jim the architect saves his large blueprint file to a CD on his PC. He takes it home and updates it on his iMac. He saves the file to the same CD-RW disk and takes it back to work.
Three Powerful Utilities in One:
WriteCD-RW! V3.5 TM - enables your CD-RW drive to work like a giant floppy drive! It is also the first software in the world that unlocks the power and ease of use of the new Mt. Rainier CD-RW drives and while continuing to provide "drag and drop" capability for non-Mt. Rainier CD-RW drive. Others make this claim, but SAI with its integrated file system and driver technology delivers.
ReadCD-MRW!TMreads Mt. Rainier formatted disks on standard CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives. These Mt. Rainier formatted CD-RW disks are not readable in legacy, non-Mt. Rainier drives. With ReadCD-MRW, the disc is automatically recognized and the data files are readable in Windows Explorer.
FixUDF! V2TM - the world's first UDF formatted disc diagnostic, repair and file recovery utility.
Combined, these products give you the following powerful features:
- easy-to-use drive letter access interface for “drag & drop” writing
- saves time with background formatting in less than 45 seconds
- high reliability through defect management and protection of directory blocks
- reliable disk interchange between different computers
- fixes damaged CD-RW disks and recovers files from UDF formatted disks.
- reads legacy third party disks
- extends use of Mt. Rainier format CD-RW disks to legacy CD-ROM, DVD-ROM & CD-RW
- expands use to reliable backup, archival and data distribution
WriteCD-RW! v3.5 Benefits
Easy to use Interface:
Other products are really mastering applications (See below). WriteCD-RW!’s Drive Letter Interface behaves just like a floppy disk drive. Simply “drag and drop” files to write to the disk; point and click to open; drag to the Trash to eject.
Saves Time:
WriteCD-RW!'s background formatting allows writing to new disks in about 30 seconds.
The RhinoCache™ architecture speeds writes through a special cache file, so files can be written to immediately without waiting.
High Reliability and Data Integrity:
CD-RW media is designed for a limited number of re-writes. Directory blocks on the disk deteriorate each time files are updated, copied or deleted which can lead to losing access to files. WriteCD-RW!’s RhinoCache™ architecture reduces disk “hot spots” by minimizing the number of directory updates. Media and file life are extended. WriteCD-RW! Pro also supports defect management on all Mt. Rainier drives.
Reliable Disk Interchange:
WriteCD-RW! solves the number one problem currently affecting CD-RW users: lack of format standards for reliable disk interchange between computer systems. WriteCD-RW! reads and writes standard OSTA UDF v1.0.2 and v 1.5 formats and the new Mt. Rainier format.
WriteCD-RW! is fully compatible with MS Windows ME, 2000 and XP UDF readers, as well as Mac OS 8 & 9 UDF readers therefore no proprietary reader is needed to read the disks on other systems!
Compatibility with Legacy Disks other third party software:
WriteCD-RW!™ reads most disks formatted by Direct CD™, InCD™ and other UDF drive letter access writing utilities. FixUDF!™ can also be used to recover files from damaged UDF formatted disks and some non-standard formatted disks. The software can also update the formats to make them OSTA UDF compliant for readability in MS Windows UDF readers.
How does SAI do this? For seamless, true drag and drop functionality, the file system and driver architectures need to be fully integrated enabling reads and writes to occur directly with the media.
Some other applications create a "virtual" disk on the desktop to which files are written to. Reads and writes are not actually to the disk. Furthermore with some applications, data files must be handled like audio files in that they need to be neatly organized and then sequentially written out in a separate process. To make even the smallest modification, other applications require you to copy everything on the media back on to your hard drive, make the changes, erase the disk, then burn the entire disk over again. Finally, others claim you can delete files by dragging them to the trash. True, but they do not free up the space on the disk for additional writes unless you erase and reformat the entire disk. They may call this data storage functionality "drag and drop" and "just like a floppy", but not SAI.
For over 14 years, SAI has been a pioneer and leader in developing file systems and driver utilities that support both block addressable media and sequential recording media. We applied this knowledge to create utilities that let you save files and use CD-RW media just as you're used to with floppies.
I have a mastering product, why do I need WriteCD-RW?
Other products for CD-RW are mastering products mainly for making audio or video disks and are not meant for data storage. Write CD-RW! complements, and does not replace, pre-mastering software. Write CD-RW! is useful if you want to incrementally add small (or large) amounts of data to your disc. You can save files directly to your CD from Finder or Explorer or directly from your spreadsheet, word processing or other application.
You should use a mastering product if you want to create or distribute audio or multimedia discs. Write CD-RW! is designed to record data files rather than audio tracks. (You can record audio files, such as MP3, WAV or AIFF files using Write CD-RW!. These will be treated as data files, and will not play on a standard audio CD player.)
FixUDF! V2 BenefitsTM
FixUDF!TM fixes damaged CD-RW disks and make non-compliant formats OSTA UDF compliant for reliable disk interchange with MS Windows based systems. FixUDF! Determines the format type (UDF and version), and if the format is compliant with OSTA UDF and Mt. Rainier guidelines. Repairs defects automatically and display s summary information on the number and type of errors on the disk. Allows you to copy recoverable files to your hard diskFor more on FixUDF! click here!
ReadCD-MRW! Benefits
Read Mt. Rainier Format Disks on legacy disk drives. ReadCD-MRW!™ reader driver reads disks formatted in the new Mt. Rainier format on most popular models of CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives. Supports MMC-2 and Multi-Read™ compliant disk drives.
Compatibility & Standards
WriteCD-RW! Pro, ReadCD-MRW! and FixUDF! are fully compliant with OSTA UDF implementation guidelines for disk interchange. Disks formatted with WriteCD-RW! are read compatible with MS Windows and Mac OS UDF readers.
