Here & Now version 2.0 provides users with file extension mapping built in. Rather than cumbersome searches to match foreign files with native application types, Here & Now automatically establishes the link from predetermined Macintosh file extensions to the appropriate DOS or Windows applications. Here & Now comes with over 30 default links supporting many of the leading PC and Maintosh applications including Word, Excel, PagaMaker, QuarkXPress and Photoshop. Users can personally customize Here & Now to support up to 200 seperate extensions. PC users access and work on Macintosh files as easily as they would native PC files.

• Here & Now version 2 supports the widest array of Macintosh formatted media available including: high-density floppies, HFS-formatted CD-ROM's, rewritable optical media including megneto-optical, PD, phase change disks, SyQuest, Bernoulii, Iomefa Zip and Jaz cartridges, even hard drives!

• Here & Now's extension mapping now lets you assign file attributes for files migrating both to and from your PC. In addition to automatically adding the appropriate three-character DOS application extensions to Macintosh filenames as they are transferred to your PC, Here & Now adds the appropriate Macintosh file type and creator to files being transferred from your PC back to a Macintosh.

• Simply by double-clicking on a Mac filename in My Computer or Windows Explorer; File Manager, Program Manager, or the Here & Now viewer, Here & Now automatically launches the appropriate Windows application. no additional steps or special applications required. Assecc to Macintosh files remains completely transparent.

• Users can view both extended 31 character Mac filenames and 3.3 DOS or Windows 3.x filenames simultaneously. Here & Now enables PC users to read, write and transfer Mac files as if they were native Windows or DOS files. Once installed, Here & Now is completely transparent to the user, providing an automatic, seamless way to access files from Mac formatted media.

“UDF” stands for “Universal Disk Format” and file system. (A file system is the method information on a storage device is organized, written, updated and retrieved). Originally specified for DVD, the UDF format is fast becoming the new international format standard for all types of storage devices because it can handle larger and more complicated files and it helps ensures that disks can be interchangeable with all types of computer systems, on large storage devices and consumer digital appliances. There are currently various versions of UDF used in the market.
