The First Utility that repairs and recovers files from CDRW, CDR and other UDF formatted disks!
For example, the most common problem for which you would want to use FixUDF! is if you cannot successfully mount a disk. “Mounting” a disk on a PC using Exployer means the ability to click on a drive letter to view the contents of the disk. On a Mac, it means the ability to insert a disk and have an icon appear for that disk upon which you can double click view the contents. FixUDF! allows you to diagnose and repair problems so the disk can be mounted and used. Even if FixUDF! cannot repair the disk so it can be mounted, it can copy the files from the damaged disk to your hard drive and from there, recover your data. FixUDF! supports any type of disk formatted in UDF version 1.0.2, 1.50, 2.0.0 or 2.0.1. Why Use FixUDF!? Disks become damaged for a number of reasons. A volume could be physically damaged by scratches, dirt or other foreign matter, or by fingerprints (in the case of optical disks). The files may be damaged because they were somehow altered by other software or by a system crash. There are also disks that have data problems because of incomplete or non-compliant UDF file structures (the OSTA standard may not have been used when the file structure was created). FixUDF! can help you find out how much damage exists and repair all or enough of the damage to make the disk or files useful. For example, Fix UDF! can correct some of the problems found in UDF file structures created with Roxio’s DirectCD™ , BHA’s B’s Clip™ and Aplix’s PacketMan™ UDF file system utilities. These products produce a non-standard UDF format, and therefore are not interchangeable with other kinds of systems. Since the purpose of UDF is to provide a standard for disk interchange, FixUDF! has been developed to correct problems that can prevent interchange. Perhaps more importantly, even if FixUDF! cannot repair a disk, it may be able to recover all or part of the data on the disk and enable you to save the files to your hard drive. That way, you can save valuable data from being permanently lost, even if the damaged disk cannot be repaired. FixUDF! Key Features, and Benefits
Systems Requirements: What is the UDF Format? UDF stands for the "Universal Disk Format" and file system. It is the key software technology underlying disk format standard for digital convergence. Based on the International Standards Organization's (ISO) ISO-13346 standard, UDF ensures that disks can be properly used on all types of computer systems as well as future consumer digital appliances.
