Version 1.5 provides everything a user needs to download, convert and
use video files recorded from DVD video recorders and DVD camcorders on
an Apple™ computer system. GreatVideo mounts the disk, reads the recorded
video files and converts them to any QuickTime™ compatible format.
Fast & Easy DVD Video Disc Mastering on third
party Drives
Great Video! now includes one step mpeg-2 compression and file conversion
to DVD Video Player format (.vob files). Supports mastering to recordable
DVD discs on most third party recordable DVD drives. The mastered video
discs are playable on both consumer DVD video players and on Mac’s or
PC’s running DVD video player software.
Powerful and Easy to Use
In addition to one step DVD video disc creation, GreatVideo! performs
“drag & drop” conversion of “.VRO” files on “VR” format DVD video recording
files to 21 industry standard video file formats, including Sorenson,
Motion JPEG and Intel Indeo Video.
Until now, converting video files recorded on DVD camcorders and video
recorders into Mac OS friendly formats used by most video editing and
authoring applications has been a problem. The Mac OS UDF file system
reader does not support the VR format. Apple DVD mastering software such
as iDVD™ only supports Apple Superdrive™ versions of DVD-R/W drives.
GreatVideo! also supports writing out data files with the same “drag &
drop” interface. Great Video! uses QuickTime™ as a conversion platform
to convert files to traditional video formats readable by most popular
video editing, authoring and playing software, including Apple Final Cut
Pro™, Sonic Solutions’s MyDVD™ and Adobe Premier™.
Advanced Features
Advanced features include selecting the compression rate, number of key
frames per second, bit rate, and color as allowed by specific video formats.
You can also quickly erase a disc without having To put it back into the
recorder or camcorder.
Compliant with Industry Standards
GreatVideo! is compliant with DVD Forum specifications for Real Time Recording
DVD Video Files (VRO video files), and the OSTA(Optical Storage Technology
Association) specifications for UDF formats. Version 1.5 supports DVD
Forum specification drives, media and formats.

Supports all Apple PowerMac™ systems running Mac OS 9.x. 128 MBytes RAM
required; 256 MBytes recommended. 5 GBytes free hard disk space required.
QuickTime v4.0 or QuickTime Pro v4.0 required; v5.0 recommended. Mac O/S
X version available in July 2003. Currently if you have O/S X you will
need to reboot into OS 9 - (Do not boot in classic mode as Great Video
has system level components that are not compatiable with Classic environment
under OSX).
