GreatVideo!™ Recordable DVD Video File Converter
for MS Windows™ Released.

First Utility to convert real time recorded DVD video(“.VRO”) files to 21 industry standard file formats for Editing and playback on PC’s.

Software Architects, Inc., the world’s first and leading supplier of disk drive utilities that use the Universal Disk Format (UDF), announced the commercial release of GreatVideo!™ DVD Video File Converter for MS Windows.

Version 1.0 provides “drag & drop” conversion of “.VRO” format DVD video recording files to 21 industry standard video file formats, including Sorenson, Motion JPEG and Intel Indeo Video. The DVD Forum specifies .VRO format files for use on all DVD video recording devices. Video files recorded on DVD-RAM and DVD-R disks by DVD camcorders from Hitachi and DVD video recorders from Panasonic and Samsung are recorded in .VRO format. This format is different from the “.VOB” video format used on DVD video disks and DVD-ROM media.

Until now, there has been no practical way of converting video files recorded on DVD camcorders and video recorders into PC friendly formats used by most video editing and authoring applications. The software uses Apple QuickTime™ as a conversion platform to convert files to formats readable by most popular video editing, authoring and playing software, including Sonic Solutions’s MyDVD and Adobe Premier™.

DVD Video Capture, Conversion and Use, Fast & Easy!
Users can record video with the hand-held camcorder, insert it into any DVD-RAM or RAM media compatible DVD-ROM drive running on a Windows system, and mount the disk in MS Explorer™. Recorded video files dropped on to the GreatVideo!™ Converter utility, are de-multiplexed, decompressed from MPEG-2 “.VRO” format video files, and converted to any QuicktTme™ video format the user selects. The converted files can be used by any third party application that supports any of the 21 QuickTime video file formats, or played by the QuickTime Movie Player for Windows utility. Sound tracks recorded in PCM and MPEG1 Layer 2 are automatically synchronized for immediate playback. The software can also quickly erase the disk so that it can be immediately re-used in the camcorder or video recorder.

Advanced Features
The GreatVideo!™ Converter Utility allows the user to convert to any of the 21 video formats including Sorenson™, Motion JPEG, Intel Indeo Video, and raw video formats. Advanced features include selecting the compression rate, number of key frames per second, bit rate, and color as allowed by specific video formats.
