SAI Adds Apple OS 10.4 Support for Plasmon UDO Drives

First “Drag & Drop” Writing to UDO Drives using UDF Format on Mac OS 10.4

Kirkland Washington, 22 June 2007... Software Architects, Inc., the leading developer of UDF file system technology for computers and consumer electronics products, announced the introduction of WriteUDO!ª Universal Disk Format Writer for Mac OS X 10.4. WriteUDO! enables both Intel and PowerPC based Apple computer systems to format, read and write to disks formatted in any version of the UDF format (universal disc format).

Solves Common File and Disc Interchange Problems
WriteUDO! enables Mac users to treat 30 GByte UDO disks like giant floppy disks. Drag & drop files from any Mac application to the disc. The UDF formatted disk can be mounted and read from most Windows and Linux systems without additional software installed. Ideal for audio and video applications or wherever large file sets need to be shared on different types of computers or between different physical locations.

The Universal Format for Archival
WriteUDO! is the ideal utility for archiving large amounts of files to UDO, MO, or DVD-RAM. Mac users making permanent records to meet regulatory requirements can now use high capacity UDO drives as permanent archives with the assurance that the files can be accessed many years into the future, regardless of the operating system used by the computer at the time of recovery.

Provides Additional Data Integrity
Version 1.0 supports UDF versions 1.02, 1.5, 2.0, 2.01, 2.5 and 2.6. Use of the UDF v2.5 format provides the ability to automatically record a second, ÒmirrorÓ stream of directory metadata that can be used to access files in case a directory block on the disc is damaged. If a disc is updated frequently, directory blocks must be overwritten, creating the potential for rapid degradation. In the event of such a failure, the WriteUDO! file system will automatically search the mirror directory block to locate files written to the disc.

Key Benefits:
• Enables use of large capacity 30 GByte Plasmon UDO disks on Mac OS 10.4 systems.
• Easy to use: simply drag & drop files to the disc.
• Mobile: UDF formatted disks can be read on most PCs running Windows or Linux.
• Long-term readability: archived files can be accessed from future computer systems.
• Extra Data Integrity: use of UDF v2.5 protects discs from data loss when a directory block fails.

System Requirements:
• Supports all Apple Mac™ Intel and PowerPC based systems running Mac OS 10.4.x or later.
• 512 MBytes of RAM.
• Re-writable UDO discs.

Pricing and Availability
Version 1.0 will be available July 2007. List Price is $499.00. Japanese language version is available at $599.00. Companion versions for MS Windows XP and 2003 Server are also available. Linux support is available in SAI's UDF Developer Toolkit.
