Kirkland, WA August 15, 2006 -- Software Architects, Inc. announced the release of its ArchivistPro™ Solutions line of hard disk based archival products targeted at small to mediums sized businesses. With prices ranging from $749 to $899 for up to 500 Gbytes of secure storage, ArchivistPro™ Solutions products provide an affordable way for any small business to create and maintain a permanent record system for regulatory compliance and permanent archival of important files.

Easy to Use Hard Disk Drive Based Solutions:
Based on hard disk technology, each ArchivistPro Solution device is accessed as a unique drive letter in MS Windows Explorer™. To permanently record a file, the user simply saves the file from their application to the archive drive letter, or drags & drops the file to the drive letter, just as if it were a standard hard disk drive. There is nothing new to learn.

Permanent Record Keeping with Version History
ArchivistPro™ Solutions use standard USB protocol external hard disk drives that are formatted in a special “archive” format that provides a “write once, ready many”(“WORM”) operation of the drive. Once written to, no data block on the drive can ever be erased or over-written, preventing accidental or intentional destruction of files.

Files can only be updated, but when this occurs, both the original version and the updated version of the file are retained. Additional updates are also retained on the disk.

Each version of every file is permanently recorded to the drive. The system’s special “File History Browser” that is integrated within MS Windows Explorer, automatically displays all versions of the selected file, including the date/time of each version being recorded to disc.

The user can access and copy the desired version of any file to their internal hard disk for use using standard Windows copy commands. This ensures a reliable and automatic method for safekeeping important records, in a manner that addresses many of the new federal guidelines for record retention of medical, financial and other legally sensitive information.

Reliable, High Performance Systems
The systems utilize state of the art high performance disk drive systems manufactured by Hammer™, a division of Bell Microsystems. Model AR-500 is based on a 7200 RPM 500 Gbyte drive, with 8 MB of cache memory and a USB-2 port in a rugged metal case with stand. The drive is formatted in the special “archive” format for easy, “plug & play” installation and use. The system comes with ArchivistPro™ for MS Windows software, with support for Win 2000, XP Pro and 2003 Server. Model AR-250 is a 250 Gbyte version of the system.
