The combination of ArchivistPro™ and the POWERVAULT RD1000 provides a reliable turnkey archival solution for small business applications for under $500.

The growing number of government regulations that require permanent record keeping of digital files is forcing many small businesses to find new affordable ways to comply. Unlike backup software that is designed to retain only selected files or a specific version of a file, ArchivistPro retains all versions of all files, even deleted ones, in a reliable and efficient method on the RD 1000s removable cartridges. Easy to Install and Use Archival Solution
With ArchivistPro installed, the RD1000 drive appears as a drive letter in MS Windows Explorer™. To permanently record a file, the user simply saves the file from their application to the drive letter representing the RD1000, or drags & drops the file to the drive letter, just as if it were a standard hard disk drive. There is nothing new to learn. The software automatically stores each file as a permanently written file on the drive cartridge and cannot be erased or over-written.

Permanent Record Keeping on a Removable Hard Disk Drive
ArchivistPro™ creates a special “archive” format on the RD1000 cartridge that provides a “write once, ready many”(“WORM”) operation of the drive. The software’s Hard WORM Disk™ technology ensures that files can only be updated and not destroyed. When a file is updated, both the original version and the updated version of the file are retained. Once written to, no data block on the drive can ever be erased or over-written, preventing accidental or intentional destruction of files. Deleted files are not erased, but they are not displayed in Windows Explorer and cannot be seen unless that file’s version history is accessed through the ArchivistPro History Browser.

Easy Access to Each File’s History
The “File History Browser”, which is integrated into Windows Explorer™, displays all versions of the selected file, including the date/time of each version being recorded to disc. Even deleted files can be accessed.

The user can access and copy the desired version of any file to their internal hard disk for use using standard Windows copy commands. This ensures a reliable and automatic method for safe-keeping all types of important records, in a manner that addresses many of the new federal guidelines for record retention of medical, financial and other legally sensitive information.
